We took a bus to the Xi'an airport and picked up our luggage. |
We were early to the airport, so we got to wander around the connected terminals. |
| |
Our plane arrives! We were on China Eastern flight 2337 to Shanghai. | Even the cups on the flight were excited about the Expo! (The littble blue guy is Haibao, the Expo mascot.) |
|
|
The in-flight meal welcomed us! |
The lunch box was full of goodies! |
|
|
There were two choies: noodles or rice. |
| |
The rest of the box had a roll, jelly, a salad, fruit, and a popcorn snack. |
There was also a "wet turban." |
| The wet turban welcomed us to the flight, too! |
We made it to Shanghai!
This cute little guy (Haibao) was the mascot of the Expo.
| |
Our tour group was down to four, so we took a minivan into town. |
It was raining. There's a bridge--we're almost there! |
| |
Our driver dropped us at the Bund. | It's a pretty waterfront. |
| We didn't have much time, and it was raining, so we didn't get a chance to explore the colonial buildings. |
| |
It was so foggy, only the bottom of the Oriental Pearl Tower was visible. |
Then, for a few minutes, the whole tower was visible! |
| |
After the Bund, we drove a little and got out to walk in Xintandi. |
The buildings in the area had been cleaned up/restored, and the area felt very Western. |
We were such a small group, there was no lazy susan at dinner!
|
|
Our hotel in Shanghai was the Galaxy Hotel. We were in room 1922 on a non-smoking floor. |
|
|
The bathroom was standard Western. | One of our favorite things about the room was the view, especially at night! |
