Breakfast was the standard mix of Western and Eastern dishes. Yum! |
While no the most flattering picture, this does show me checking my e-mail on my netbook during breakfast. (Since we were gone most of the day, and with the time difference, sending morning e-mails was convenient.) |
We were off to the Shanghai Museum as our first stop.
| |
The historic clothing exhibits were my favorite . . . |
. . . but this was EHG's favorite exhibit. |
|
After the museum, we hit our daily shopping stop, the "Silk Factory." |
|
|
The man couldn't believe we'd seen silkworms before! (Greenfield Village is awesome!) | It was interesting to see how silk is made. |
| |
Even though it was called a Thai restaurant, the food was the same as we'd eaten for the past week. |
The food wasn't spectacular, but as usual, there was a lot of it. |
After lunch, we made a quick photo op stop at the Bund again (since it was clearer and drier).
| Next, we went to the Yu Yuan Garden
area. We were given a long time in the area, and after walking
around some, EHG and I just sat and people-watched in the garden.
Fun!
(The surrounding area is very commercial and fun to wander around: souvenirs and soup dumplings!) |

That night, we ate at a smoky restaurant (our only one!) before going to see the acrobats. |
| |
This was the building where we saw the acrobats. (It was called the Yun Feng Theatre.) | There were many kinds of acrobatic acts. Here is a picture of the plate-spinners. |
| |
Here is a human pyramid. | The finale was five motorcyclists in the cage. WOW! |
|
|
After the acrobat show, we went back to the hotel and went out walking. There was a Family Mart not far from the hotel, so we got some ice cream treats. |
