Because
my mother had not been to Switzerland before, we decided to take the
bus directly from Milan Malpensa airport to Lugano, Switzerland, for
our firstday and night in Europe. |
 | |
It was raining when we got to Milan. We took the 10:40 am Malpensa Express bus from Giosy Tours
for 20 euros each. I had made an online reservation, and we
bought the tickets just inside the terminal (although we could have
bought them from the driver). | The bus was not very crowded. It was comfortable. |
 | |
Our luggage was stored under the bus for the 80-minute bus ride. We got to Lugano, Switzerland, around noon. | We stayed at Albergo Stella in Lugano, near the train station. |
 |
We were in room 24. The room had two beds, air-conditioning, a large wardrobe, a table and chair, and a TV. |
 | |
The room had a small, cruise-cabin-like bathroom. | The room also had a balcony! |
 | |
We
left the hotel and walked down to the waterfront, enjoying the walk
through the waterfront Parco Civico with its beautiful landscaping. | We
had lunch at McDonald's near the waterfront. We got two double
cheeseburgers, two small fries, and two small drinks for 17.80 CHF
($20). |
 | |
Next, we headed for Paradiso. What a view! | The in-lake fountain was fun! |
 | |
From Paradiso, we walked up and up to the Parco Panoramico (aka Parco Guidino). | The view from the park was amazing! |
 | |
After buying our bus tickets for the next day, we went to eat dinner at Snack Bar Messicano near the Lugano bus station. | We had tacos, a quesadilla, a burrito, and a bottle of water to share. They weren't amazing, but they were OK. |
 | |
We ate outside behind the restaurant in the shade. | On
the way back to the hotel, we got Magnum ice cream bars at the little
grocery store Piccobello in the Lugano train station (3.05
CHF [$3.40] each). |
