From Mont Saint Michel, I took the 9:30 am bus to Rennes (10.80 euros, $15), where I caught the 11:05 am TGV to Le Mans, changed there to a train to Tours, and finally caught a train to Amboise.

I stayed at the Hotel Bellevue (for three nights.  The price was 50 euros ($70) per night (including tax) for a single, un-airconditioned room with no breakfast.  That is Amboise's chateau in the background, but my room had no view.
The room was *very* sparse, but the location was good.  It had a TV with cable, a window, a phone, and a big closet.  No Wifi! The bathroom was a standard French bathroom: toilet, sink, and shower.  It was clean if a little old.
I went to this bakery on my first morning in Amboise.  It was across the stree from the open-air market. I got this apple pastry (chausson aux pommes) at the bakery.  Yummy!

Amboise's Sunday market was enjoyable to walk around.  It got more crowded as the morning went on.  There were tour buses of people!

Amboise's coin-op laundry is near the tourist office, easy to use, and a great way to spend time on a rainy day!
The old town near the chateau was fun to walk around.  A great ambience!

I ordered this Forestiere pizza at one of the restaurants across from the chateau.  The mushrooms and onions were great.  Sour cream on the pizza was a new experience I'll try not to repeat :)
