Overdose of Scenery
Train, bus, and ferry through fjord country

We took the coordinated trip called "Norway in a Nutshell" to get from Oslo to Bergen.
(Of all the things I did in Scandinavia, it was the worst choice.  I would not do it again.)
Price was expensive: $192 per person!

scenergyFinse
We caught the 8:11 am train from Oslo to Myrdal.  It was scenic! It was still snow-covered in Finse, 4000 feet above sea level and the highest rail station in Norway.
MyrdalFlam train
We made it to Myrdal at 12:53 pm.We caught the train to Flam at 1:27 pm.
The train travels 20 km from Myrdal's 2800 feet above sea level to Flam's 6 feet above sea level!
waterfallwaterfall
On the Flam line, there is a stop at the Kjosfossen Waterfall.Seeing the waterfall was the highlight of the entire "Norway in a Nutshell" trip.
Flamferry
We made it to Flam!At 3:10 pm, we took the ferry from Flam to Gudvangen.
on ferry scenery
We made it on the ferry! It was cold and wet (it rained) on the ferry, but there were a few enjoyable minutes of scenery.
scenery bus
A nice view of the fjord. After the ferry ride, we boarded a bus in Gudvangen.
The bus ride was a nail-biter and not enjoyable.
hotel view
We stopped at the Stalheim Hotel for a scenic view. The view of the valley from the hotel was very pretty!
We re-boarded the bus and travelled to Voss, then changed to the train to continue to Bergen.
We got to Bergen just after 8:30 pm.
