On our second day in Bellagio, we went kayaking, took the ferry to Varenna, and walked to the Fiumelatte River.
The Hotel Centrale's breakfast spread was very nice!  It was here that we learned the best yogurt flavor in Italy is wild berry (frutti di bosco)! We wore our kayaking clothes to breakfast!
It was overcast but comfortable.  We were with a very small group (6-8 + the guide).  The kayaks were sit-upon.The harbor of Pescallo, where we set off, was very picturesque.
We kayaked with guide Mich (in the red kayak) from Bellagio Water Sports.  The tour was 30 euros per person for 2 hours.  We ended at around 10:30 am (half an hour early) and had time to kayak around on our own (until 11 am),Love this photo, because it shows us kayaking, plus the car ferry and Varenna in the background!
My favorite part of the kayaking was going through this small passageMy mother had never kayaked before (but she grew up canoeing).  We had a wonderful time!
Seeing the cliff covered in prickly pear was pretty neat! After kayaking, we took the ferry to Varenna.  We bought our train tickets, scouted out the train station, and walked around the town.
The little walkway from the ferry dock to the old town in Varenna is beautiful! We ate lunch at Nilus Bar in Varenna.  I had the asparagus pizza!
The view from the Nilus Bar's outdoor seating was spectacular! After lunch, we started the walk to the source of the Fiumelatte.  It was fun to see the coastline where we had kayaked only hours earlier!
The views on the walk were spectacular!  (That's Varenna in the background.)I love nature walking, but portions of the trail were overgrown, so we took the trail more travelled.
Near the cemetery, we saw these gorgeous flowers! We made it to the Fiumelatte, "the shortest river in Italy"
I would have assumed it was a waterfall, but it's a very steep river! This walk was my favorite experience on the whole trip.  What fun!
We walked back to Varenna on the road and then took the ferry back to Bellagio. We took the cary ferry back!
Since we had a large late lunch, we just had gelato at Gelateria del Borgo for dinner.  So good!
