On our third day, we travelled from Lugano, Switzerland, to Bellagio, Italy, by bus and ferry.
Albergo Stella's breakfast buffet was beautiful and delicious! We also got to eat outside on their patio.
After breakfast, we walked to the train station, changed our leftover Swiss francs for euros, and made our way to the bus stop for the bus to C12 bus from Lugano to Megannio.  The bus stop is on Via Campo Marzio behind the parking lot.  You must buy the tickets before boarding--buy them from the snack shop kiosk on the far side of the parking lot (next to the hockey arena, near the Lido)..  Ticket prices are 4.70 euros one-way, but we bought ours in Swiss francs (a little less than 6 CHF each).  The biggest stress of my entire trip was finding the bus stop for this bus--we asked at the tourist information office--and finding out where to buy the tickets (which the tourist information office told us, too). The C12 is just a small city bus, so we were glad we were packing pretty light.

The bus filled up along the way.
We took the 9:30 am bus in Lugano and ended up in Menaggio around 10:30 am.  The stop we wanted was along the waterfront, and luckily others signaled to get off there.Since we weren't scheduled to return to Menaggio, we walked around the waterfront for a few minutes.
The watefront was very pretty!Next, we made out way to the ferry dock.  We could see Bellagio in the distance!
The ferry costs 4.60 euros per person per trip ($6.25).  Schedules are available at the Gestione Navigazione Laghi website.  Hooray--it wasn't raining!
We found our hotel, Hotel Centrale Bellagio, just up from the ferry dock. The first impression of the hotel is beautiful, as you enter through the garden.
Panorama of our room (102, I think).
Panorama of the room's attached shared patio/balcony.
The room's bathroom was small but functional. We ate lunch at Baba Yaga, a restaurant on the walk out to the point.
We ate lunch late, so it was not crowded.Their pizzas had cracker-think crusts.
To make sure we knew where to go for the next day's kayaking, we walked the path from Bellagio to Pescallo. We also walked along the waterfront all the way to Villa Melzi.
We enjoyed walking out to the point where the lake splits, called Punta Spartivento.
Streets in Bellagio are steps! We ate dinner at Ristoro Forma & Gusto, steps from our hotel.  I had the grilled vegetable pizza--including eggplant, zucchini, and carrot.  We enjoyed their crust the most of al the pizzas we had on this trip in Italy, as it had the most flavor.
We walked out to the point again after dinner.  This photo has a nice view of Varenna across the lake in the background. We loved our time in Bellagio!
