Kyla at the volcano

Aloha from Ypsilanti, Michigan!
Swimming at Kalapaki Beach on Kaua'i

My name is Kyla Gurganus, and I am a chemistry teacher who loves to travel.  This spring (2007), I was fortunate to take a trip to Hawai'i to visit my sister, Greer.  She works on the Norwegian Cruise Line ship Pride of America as an officer.  I was able to stay in her cabin to cut costs.

I flew on Northwest from Detroit to Las Vegas and Hawaiian from Las Vegas to Honolulu, leaving Friday night and arriving at 7 am on Saturday morning.  For those who pack light, Honolulu city bus service is excellent: the fares are reasonable ($2), and the drivers are very helpful.  There is even a city bus stop at the airport.  I was dropped off less than three blocks from the cruise ship.

My trip was fabulous, even though my sister and I both got very sick during the week.  You will notice there are no pictures of my wonderful snorkelling trip to Molokini Crater.  I was so sick, I forgot my camera and barely made it through the tour.

At the end of the week, I bid my sister adieu, took the bus to the Aloha Swap Meet, bussed back to the airport, and killed time until my flight to Phoenix on Hawaiian.  I got a hotel room in Phoenix at the Econolodge for a few hours before my early flight on Northwest back to Detroit.

I hope you will enjoy looking at my pictures.  Mahalo for visiting this site.  Again, aloha!
