For Spring Break 2012, I decided to fly to Berlin, Germany, for a week of travel fun.

My first flight was from Detroit to Amsterdam on Delta Flt 252.
The flight left Detroit at 3:55 pm and arrived at Amsterdam at 6:00 am.

We had seat-back screens and on-demand entertainment.
I watched Toy Story 3 and How the States Got Their Shapes.
(I also played Bejeweled for hours!)
dinner on flight to AmsterdamThe dinner on the flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was good.  I had spiced chicken with yellow rice, Fresca, a tiny salad with a tomato wedge and Caesar dressing, a roll with buttery spread, Club crackers with Tillamook cheese (yum!), and a yummy cookies and cream brownie.
Compared to the dinner, the breakfast wasn't very good.  It included a tasteless egg-English muffin sandwich, a banana, and orange juice.breakfast DTW to AMS
view out windowI had a two-hour layover in Amsterdam, so I hit the bathroom, withdrew 150 euros ($200, 33% exchange) from the ATM and got some of it changed into smaller bills at the airport bank.

I didn't check my bag, so passport control was a bit crazy, but I made it through, and my bag fit in the overhead compartment on the plane from Amsterdam to Berlin.

While Amsterdam has had security measures in place since I've been flying here, it has noticibly stepped up its game since the Underwear Bomber.

From Amsterdam to Berlin is about an hour's flight (think Detroit to Chicago).

Here's a picture I took out the window.
It's a straight shot from Amsterdam to Berlin as the crow flies!straight shot!
snack on KLMsnack on KLM
The flight from Amsterdam to Berlin was KLM, so the food was very different.  The snack was a half-sandwich (roast beef on dark multigrain bread), chocolate-orange pastry (pain au chocolat with orange goo on top--SO GOOD), and a cute little orange juice.
