We Finally Arrived in Lome!

Greer met us at the airport. We took a taxi to the American School
Boarding House, where she had reserved a room. It is one of the top
budget places to stay in Lome because it has air conditioning and NO BED
BUGS! |
| It took us 24 hours of travel time to reach Lome. It had been
a year since we'd seen Greer and we were so happy to see her! |

| Here we are on our bush taxi to Kara and Yade. It was an old
15-passenger van (called a "15 placer") that had had two fold-away seats
and a bench added. During our 6 1/2 hour journey (according to Greer,
a very quick time to Kara--and no bathroom stops!), we had from 16-20 people
in the taxi at any time. Greer bought an extra seat so Mother and
I would not be squished. |
