Becky and the Waterfall
Visiting Bafilo, Togo

We got to spend two nights at PCV Becky's house in Bafilo.  Each PCV's house is different; they live in homes similar to those around them.
Bafilo is a more affluent town, so Becky has a large house, running water (shower AND flush toilet), and a refrigerator.
Becky has a degree in art and her house was full of her beautiful, artistic touches (murals, collages, drawings).
Two other PCVs were staying with Becky, too: Andi (PCV Togo) and her boyfriend, Josh (PCV Bulgaria!).  So nice!
It is a necessity to sleep under a mosquito net while in Togo (to avoid malaria-carrying mosquitos at night).  Becky also had a fan for us (a necessity, too!).
We didn't know until in Togo that mosquito nets are treated with an insecticide that tastes bad to rodents.
The next morning we walked to the waterfall.
It was about an hour's walk from Becky's house.
This sign says BADEN VERBOTEN (or in English, no swimming!)
Einstein, Becky's dog, went with us.
He found a friend (another dog) along the way and we lost him : (
The waterfall!

So gorgeous!

We walked through fields and a partial bridge to get here.

It rained a bit (but not too much).

The grass was quite overgrown (between waist- and shoulder-height) along the last bit of the trail after the
BADEN VERBOTEN sign.

It was very pleasant (much cooler) and everything was green and lush near the waterfall.

The rocks were very slick but Greer and Becky had no problems.  Mother and I were more cautious.

It was the rainy season so the waterfall was full.
In the dry season, it is much less (more of a trickle).

This was the most beautiful part of Togo that we visited.
We had a blast.  Thanks, Becky!
