Ketchikan was my favorite of  the ports of call.  I took the bus out to Saxman Village Totem Park  Here were highly-painted recreations of old totems.
Very nice!  I then walked back to town and even saw a real bald eagle along the water.
I then started the excellent Ketchikan (self-guided) Walking Tour, the best of Southeast Alaska.  This is the totem next to the library.

I got to see salmon swimming upstream at several places I visited during my trip.
I visited the salmon hatchery where they also have two injured bald eagles in captivity.  I'd never seen eagles this close!

The hatchery and Totem Heritage Center were quite expensive.  For the money, I enjoyed the hatchery tour much more.
Next was a stop at the Totem Heritage Center, a repository of old (no longer painted) totem poles.

While it was interesting to see original totems, I didn't find the center informative enough for the money.
